The Red Dragons have always prided themselves on boasting the oldest stadium on the planet that is still used for international fixtures. The last game to be staged there saw Wales face Gibraltar in a friendly contest on October 11, 2023.

The same venue played host to Wales’ very first international match back in 1877. Wrexham hope to provide the backdrop for more elite competition in the years to come. For now, though, their place in the history books has been confirmed after reaching 147 years and 31 days as of April 5, 2024.

WHAT REYNOLDS SAID

Wrexham chairman Reynolds was surprised with an official Guinness World Records presentation during an appearance on the British daytime television show alongside Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman. He said: “This means so much to me and my Welsh ancestors.”

Reynolds will likely be heading back to his native Canada to catch Wrexham in action on Saturday against MLS side the Vancouver Whitecaps in his home town. Fellow co-owner Rob McElhenney is already in North America and was in attendance for the Red Dragons’ 2-2 friendly draw with Premier League side Chelsea.
