Western Australian Cricket Association21-Sep-2001Earlier today at the WACA Ground, the Western Australian CricketAssociation officially announced Carlton & United Breweries as anofficial sponsor of the Association for the next ten years.The sponsorship deal between the WACA and CUB creates an alignment withCricket sponsorship at a national level. CUB is also the sponsor of theVB International limited over series and a tour sponsor of theAustralian Cricket team.The aligning of a state and national sponsor creates flow throughadvantages for many aspects of WA and Australian cricket, from thedevelopment of cricket through to the hosting of international events.The aligning of the CUB deal streamlines certain business operations andallows the Australian Cricket Board and the WACA to share common goalswith regards to those operations.Graeme Wood, CUB’s General Manager of Sales for Western Australia, saidthat CUB was delighted to be the WACA’s choice of sponsor. In referenceto CUB’s sponsorship of the Australian Cricket Board, Mr Wood said, “TheWACA sponsorship reinforces our already strong commitment to cricket atall levels, with the VB One Day International series and a toursponsorship of the Australian Cricket team.”Mr Wood also went on to say, “CUB is delighted to be sponsoring theWACA. It provides the opportunity for CUB to continue as a ‘grass roots’supporter of WA cricket and the WA community as a whole. Over the pastseven years CUB has been supporting local cricket, through our majorcontribution to the Suburban Turf Cricket Association. Cricket andfootball are icon sports in Australia and CUB – as Australia’s leadingbrewer – is delighted at the opportunity to be supporting these sportsin WA.”The deal between CUB and the WACA, makes CUB a major naming rightssponsor of the WACA Ground, as well as a major support sponsor of theWestern Warriors.Kath White, Chief Executive Officer of the WACA, said that, “Oursponsorship deal with CUB provides the WACA with valuable assistancetowards reaching many of our long term goals, and the development ofcricket throughout the state”.WACA Marketing Manager Mr Steve Wright said, “The WACA has a provenrecord for working along side many leading Australian and WestAustralian companies.
